The Cindy-Lou Who essay writing competition is for Hendersonville third-grade students to share their original writing on the theme: “What act of kindness is your holiday tradition? ”
Submit a winning entry to the Board of Holidayfest of Sumner County, for the Annual Essay Contest. The Holidayfest Board’s Contest is designed to give Hendersonville students an opportunity to express their feelings about what it means to be a person who cares for others and dares to be different.
CONTEST GUIDELINES
* Students must be residents of Hendersonville.
* Entries are due no later than November 16th, 2024
* Entries must be elementary school 3rd Graders
* An official entry form must be attached to the entry.
* Entries must be 50 to 250 words in length.
* The essay must be typed or printed neatly on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper – one side, double-spaced.
* All entries become the property of Holidayfest of Sumner County and may be used for promotional purposes.
* All decisions of the judging panel are final.
* Failure to adhere to contest guidelines may result in disqualification.

JUDGING CRITERIA
Essay entries will be judged on:
Originality
Creativity
Neatness
Use of Grammar
Clarity of Message
Contest judging takes place on Nov. 28th Finalists will be notified by mail and a telephone call by Dec. 1st, 2024. Winners will be announced at the Mayor’s Tree Lighting and the Winning entries will ride in the Hendersonville Parade with the Mayor. The essay will be posted on the HolidayFest website at www.HolidayfestTN.org
PRIZES
The following prizes will be awarded to the winners in each school category for each contest:
1st Place $100 and a Plaque
2nd Place – $50 and a Plaque
3rd Place -$25 and a Plaque
